THE HEART OF CHRIST

LOVING OTHERS

Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy.

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Matthew 5:43-48

But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,

Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

Luke 6:27,28

The teaching of loving our enemies must be very important to Jesus, since it is stated twice in these Scriptures. Here we have the four laws of love:

1. Love your enemies.

2. Do good to them which hate you.

3. Bless them that curse you.

4. Pray for them which despitefully use you.

We are commanded to love people. Ministry is love. Your preacher may be hard on you at times. But if he didn't love you, he wouldn't take the time to study and to seek God's face as to what he should preach. Many Christians don't understand what preachers go through. We need to have compassion on them.

"Do good," the Word says. Do good to every person you meet. It doesn't say, "Be good," but "Do good." Do something good for someone today. When you find someone who has a need, meet that need. You don't have to tell them anything.

You can leave a rose on someone's desk. No need to tell them who it was from. Leave a card in someone's mailbox. Bless people just like Jesus blesses us daily.

These four components are the core of a ministry. Therefore, everyone has a ministry. Everyone is supposed to: 1) love, 2) do good, 3) bless and 4) pray. It is up to each person whether or not that ministry is active.

God is not partial to those in ministry who stand in the pulpit. He loves everyone the same. We can all do the same work in Jesus' name—and in faith. It isn't hard to do.

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

John 13:34

If ye love me, keep my commandments.

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

John 14:15-17

As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
